My experience with Kess v2:
I've done EDC16U1 and EDC16U31-U34 successfully, and also done many edc15p and also vag edc16, including counter reset no problem.
It's a Chinese clone, maybe I'm just lucky, though one of my friends has the same clone and also managed the same ECU's. Also done a few Renault edc16's with Kline, not had any problems. I have been using software V1.96 though, even though not all protocols are working, it's seems to work better.
Mazda 2.2 skyactiv (sh1) :
Original kess cannot write it also.
Both clone and orig can read it.
Kess clone write err message : checksum error even if cks is ok
Kess orig write err message : error addressing
Mazda 2.2 rf8 :
Both clone and orig can do it
I/O Terminal can read and write.
Cannot read write rf8 and sh1/5

And I have io terminal. Cannot read write rf8 and sh1/5. Galletto ori can’t read Mazda 6 2010-11 but I/O Terminal read/write without problem. Now I checked … ECU DENSO, SH7058, R2B, GG06R2BFT16A …
Best tool for Benz ecu read write?
Option 1. x17 / cmd / ktag / trasdata / galetto etc.
most of these can read / write eeprom in the newer MB ecu's
Option 2. Lauterbach programmer by jtag using BDM connections, but is more for experts and is expensive !
