Big news from AutoTuner! The Bosch MD1CS004 ECU used in 2.0L TDI VAG engines just received a significant OBD protocol upgrade. This latest update brings improved support and performance enhancements for tuners and technicians working with this popular ECU across multiple vehicle platforms.
H80 Hardware & Protocol Enhancements
One of the highlights of this release revolves around the H80 hardware variant. While BENCH mode is not compatible due to the specific Bosch service mode tied directly to the ECU, the new update makes it possible to handle some H80 versions in OBD mode using a VAG-specific approach.
That’s right—tuners can now potentially access and modify H80 ECUs without cracking open the ECU, simplifying the workflow and reducing the risk of hardware damage.
Expanded Coverage and Smarter Detection
The protocol now supports a greater number of Cboot versions. As a result, new VR files have been added and several corrections have been made for even more complete coverage.
We have also developed a better detection for VAG group ECUs, which allows you to know right from the identification if your ECU is supported.
New versions of some ECU references have been introduced by VAG. Those are not yet supported and are identified as Gen2 (for example: MD1CS004 Gen2).
