Autotuner released a major update for Bosch MDG1 ECUs fitted to BMW platforms from 2020 onward. The latest DDE8 and DME8 versions with new Bosch protection can now be handled via the BENCH method after a Remote Unlock with your AutoTuner Tool.

How to Check ECU Compatibility?
Simply perform a BENCH identification. Your AutoTuner Master Tuning Tool will then clearly indicate the next steps:
- Supported in BENCH: Proceed directly.
- Remote Unlock Required: Follow the process below.
- Not Yet Supported: Please stay tuned for updates.
Once the ECU has been unlocked via the bench method, you gain the flexibility to perform subsequent OBD Unlocks directly with your AT Tool. This also enables full support and functionality when using your AT One device.
To simplify the process, Autotuner team automatically applies the OBD Unlock during every Remote Unlock service. Please note that the Remote Unlock requires you to ship the ECU to AutoTuner. The service is priced at 250 EUR + VAT and can be ordered on the official website.
A critical requirement is that the ECU must be fully opened by a skilled technician prior to shipping—this is a specialized procedure that carries risk. The circuit board must be completely separated from the casing on both sides. We cannot process units that are closed or only partially opened.

- Tuning Capabilities: After unlocking, the ECU can be tuned via bench or OBD. A full read is only possible on the bench.
- Dealership Updates: Good news—recent software updates from dealerships do not affect the Remote Unlock process.

How to remote unlock BMW MDG1?
1.Confirm the ECU reference via vehicle identification.
2.Remove the ECU and inspect its physical condition.
3.Follow the online video guide to open the ECU casing.
4.Purchase the “Remote Unlock” service on autotuner.com.
5.Pack the ECU securely and ship it using the provided DHL label.
6.Once returned, reinstall the ECU. Full reading and writing capabilities will then be available via BENCH with your AutoTuner Tool.
