Both Launch X431 PRO5 SmartLink (new) and X431 PRO5 SmartBox (old) can work with X431 Key Programmer to read transponder, generate transponder, detect frequency, detect ignition switch coil signal, generate Remote (Launch X431 remote), and unlock Toyota smart key, etc functions. The main difference is that the new Pro5 has a Type-C connector that can directly connect with X-431 Key Programmer, but the old Pro5 doesn’t have a Type-C connector, and requires an extra OTG USB Micro to USB-C Adapter. Simple guide to update key programmer software on Launch X431 PRO5:
1.Connect X-431 PRO5 SmartLink and Launch X431 Key Programmer directly
*Connect X-431 PRO5 SmartBox and X-431 Key Programmer via OTG USB Micro to USB-C adapter
2.Update X-431 PRO5 to the latest APK
3. Update software
4. Update firmware and remote database in the Key Programmer option
5. After updating, you can perform the supported function normally.
