The new KESS3 Unlock Module allows workshops to unlock selected protected Bosch MDG1 ECUs and then program them in BOOT mode. With new KESS3 protocols and the dedicated Unlock Module, users can access ECU memories for reading, writing, and complete backup operations on supported ECUs.
Unlock Protected MDG1 ECUs Directly in the Workshop
Some newer Bosch MDG1 ECUs are protected and require an unlock procedure before their memories can be accessed.
Alientech KESS3 ECU Programmer now supports a dedicated BOOT “Unlock” procedure for the following ECUs:

After the ECU has been unlocked, KESS3 can access its memories in BOOT mode. This allows technicians to perform:

The entire process can be handled in the workshop, from unlocking the ECU to programming it in BOOT mode.
Expanded Coverage for Diesel and Petrol Vehicles
The new protocols extend KESS V3 coverage to a wide range of diesel and petrol applications produced from 2021 onward.
The supported brands include:
- Audi, Bentley, Citroën, Cupra, DS, Fiat, Ford, Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, Land Rover, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Seat, Secma, Skoda, Toyota, Vauxhall, and Volkswagen.
The coverage includes passenger cars, SUVs, high-performance models, and commercial vehicles.
