Most Launch X431 Tools have a [VIN Registration] function to read and write VIN. Here take Launch X431 PAD V as an example to show how to register VIN on a 2017 Nissan XTrail T32 new ECM.
Operation guide:
Go to [Local diagnosis] menu
Select NISSAN>> NISSAN Diagnostic software (i.e. V44.76)>> Full system diagnosis>> The vehicle with 16PIN>> System Selection>> Engine>> ECM (Engine Control Module)
The state of ECM is equipped
Select Special Function>> VIN Registration
Confirm the ignition switch on and the engine stopped. Hold these conditions during the procedure
You can see three options: VIN/CHASSIS, VIN READ, and VIN WRITE.
Click [VIN READ]
Input the VIN of the vehicle. Refer to S/M for the location of the identification plate
After inputting, click “OK”, and the VIN value appears on the VIN READ line.
Click [VIN WRITE]
Input the VIN once again
After inputting, click “OK”, and the VIN value appears on the VIN WRITE line.
Click “Start”
Command succeed
Turn ignition switch off for 10 sec then ignition switch on to confirm no DTC
The VIN number has already been registered on X431 PAD5, and the value appears on the VIN/CHASSIS line.
