THINKCAR MUCAR 892BT Pro supports J2534 Pass-Thru function with MUCAR GVCI, allowing users to connect PC-based diagnostic software such as FORScan with a vehicle. This guide explains how to install the J2534 driver, configure the VCI connection, and perform vehicle diagnostics step by step.
J2534 Pass-Thru is useful when technicians need to use OEM or compatible diagnostic software through an external VCI device. With MUCAR 892BT Pro and MUCAR GVCI, users can complete vehicle communication, module scanning, live data monitoring, and supported diagnostic functions through FORScan.
What You Need Before Starting
Prepare the following:
- MUCAR 892BT Pro AI diagnostic scanner
- MUCAR GVCI connector
- USB-to-USB Type-C cable included with the device
- Windows laptop
- Compatible diagnostic software
- J2534 driver
Step 1: Install the J2534 Driver
First, visit the official MUCAR website and go to:
Support > Software Download
Download the latest J2534 driver. In this example, the driver version is V4.9. Always check whether a newer version is available before installation.
Run the installation file. If an older J2534 Plus version is detected, remove it when prompted and restart the installation.
Follow the setup wizard:
Click Next > Install > Finish
Step 2: Check MUCAR GVCI Connection
Connect the MUCAR GVCI to the Windows laptop using the supplied USB cable.
The green LED indicates that the device is connected.
Open the J2534 application and check:
- Connection method: USB Serial
- Driver DLL version
- VCI firmware version
If updates are available, update the required components before continuing.
J2534 Log Function
The J2534 application also provides a logging function.
When communication problems occur, enabling logs can record diagnostic information during the session. These files can be provided to technical support for troubleshooting.
If there are no communication issues, the log function can remain disabled.
Step 3: Connect MUCAR GVCI to the Vehicle
Connect the GVCI to the vehicle’s OBD port and switch the ignition on.
During Pass-Thru diagnostics, J2534 Plus does not need to remain open. After the VCI is recognized correctly, you can close the application or keep it running.
Step 4: Select J2534 Interface in FORScan
Open FORScan on the laptop.
Enter the adapter settings and select:
J2534Plus
Return to the vehicle connection page and click:
Connect to Vehicle
Keep the ignition on while FORScan establishes communication.
Step 5: Scan Vehicle Modules
After successful connection, FORScan can communicate with vehicle control modules through MUCAR GVCI.
You can:
- Scan available modules
- Read diagnostic trouble codes
- Check vehicle information
If a vehicle profile has been saved, loading it can reduce setup time.
Step 6: Check Live Data
To monitor vehicle parameters in real time:
Open the Live Data section in FORScan.
Select the required parameters and click Start.
The selected data will be displayed in real time.
This function is useful for monitoring vehicle operation while diagnosing faults.
Step 7: Complete Diagnostics
Depending on vehicle models and software functions, additional tests may be available through the J2534 connection.
After finishing the diagnostic work:
Go to the vehicle interface and click:
Disconnect
The MUCAR 892BT Pro J2534 Pass-Thru session is now complete.
