Super MB PRO N3 (BMW ICOM A3) supports network connection with computer via WiFi and USB cable. After connection, it’s easy to update firmware for performing diagnosis, programming, coding with all BMW inspection software for BMW/ mini/ Rolls-Royce/ BMW Motorcycle. Part I: How to set up network connection for Super MB PRO N3 on computer?
- Connect network via WiFi
There is no need to set up the IP address to connect WiFi. What you need to do is that input the password for the first time using WiFi.
Connect with one available WiFi with good signal
After connection, the active service will show the related device free state in ITOOL RADAR program and BMW software
Open BMW software to perform the function supported
Select Device ID and Set up connection
It starts to do vehicle identification.
After that, the related device state will show Reserved in ITOOL RADAR program and BMW software at the same time.
- Connect via USB cable
When you use the USB cable to connect BMW ICOM A3 and computer, the IP needs to be set up is 192.168.92xx (it’s the driver IP address recognized by the device, not the local Ethernet IP address of the computer)
Right click Local Area Connection
Click property>> Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Tick ‘Use the following IP addresses’
Just input your driver IP address
Click OK to connect the internet
After the network connection is successful, you can run BMW software to perform the function supported.
Part II: How to upgrade Super MB Pro N3 firmware?
Connect BMW ICOM A3 diagnostic tool and computer via USB cable or WiFi
Charge the device via 12V power adapter or connect ICOM A3 to BMW vehicle for power
Use Google Chrome or Edge to visit http://192.168.92.38:60080
Select “Update Firmware”, you can see ICOM firmware version information
Login with the user name (root) and password (NZY11502)
Select “Browse” to select file “ICOM-BootImage-01-30-00.bin”, set the image type as “SYSTEM”,
Click “Send the file”
It will ask you “Write the image file to flash?”
Select “Yes” to continue, then ICOM indicator light will turn red
When it shows “The SYSTEM IMAGE update was successful”, click “Update Firmware”.
Choose “ICOM-ApplicationImage-01-47-00.bin”, set the image type “APPLICATION”, and click “Send the file”, this will be done in several minutes please be patient.
Click “Yes” when you get the prompt “Write the image file to the flash?”, then the ICOM indicator light will turn red again.
The APPLICATION IMAGE is also updated successfully, click “reboot” to activate the new images.
Click “Home”, and then “Update Firmware”, and you will see ICOM A3 firmware display the newest version.
